•    SUMMARY

•    We hope that you will become a part of Wags and Walks!  Join us by volunteering in one or more of the following areas.  Currently our rescue has saved 2500 dogs in need and with your help, we can save more.  We encourage teamwork, out of the box ideas, open communication and job opportunities when they arrive.  If you want to be involved in one of the fastest growing and exciting rescues, this is your opportunity!  The day to day is always new and unpredictable, which means there is never a dull moment.  You can oversee all animal care, foster relations, dog walking, fundraising , social media, public relations event planning etc from the moment the dog is pulled from the shelter to when the dog is adopted.  Nothing is more fulfilling than knowing you played a part in saving a dogs life!

•    Must be open to learning about dog behavior and needs if applicable

•    Must be willing to get hands dirty

•    Must be professional and represent the brand at all times when volunteering

 

•    OPPORTUNITIES and DUTIES:

 

•    ADOPTION EVENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS

•    Adoption events are help every 2 weeks at The Original Farmer’s Market at the Grove in Mid City and The Dog Bakery in Mar Vista.  Special events are in all different locations.

•    Setting up table, tent, crates if necessary, customer service, cleaning pee and poo and of course giving our dog plenty of love, attention, safety and promotion they deserve

•    Gaining interested people to donate, sign up for contact list

•    Track merchandise and promoting it for fundraising for the dogs in rescue

•    Behavior consultants (training available upon request)

•    Networking for future partnerships and opportunities

•    Transport dogs to and from event if necessary

 

•    FOSTERING

•    Do you have room for a four legged guest?  We are actively seeking volunteers to foster dogs and save them from our overcrowded shelters.  Each dog we get out of the shelter saves another dog from being killed at the shelter (we provide all supplies and support you will need)  

•    FOSTER MENTORS

•    Do you consider yourself “dog savvy”?  Do you like solving problems, or “being in the   know?”  We are actively seeking volunteers who are interested in helping support new foster families by answering questions about issues such as separation anxiety or house training.  We will provide the training you need to be supportive and the Wags contacts you will need.  It will be helpful if you have some veterinary and behavior background but a fastlearner will work!

•    TRANSPORTING:

•    We are always in need of help transporting dogs from one location to another.  During the week dogs need to be transported to and from vet visits, grooming appointments, foster homes etc.  Our dogs also need shelter freedom trips from many different shelters to west la (we provide crates, leashes, blankets).  We even have a van for you to borrow with a valid drivers license.

•    FUNDRAISING/EVENTS:

•        If you have fundraising, event planning, PR, marketing, or grant writing                                                          experience and skills, we can definitely use your help

•    Blogging, Writing, Graphic Design:

•    Are you passionate about dogs? Do you have a clever, engaging writing style.  We need someone to help us put together our newsletters, as well as assisting us in creating new, dog related content for our blog.  Training, vet, medical, rescue insight, breed stories (positive of course) and general interest are all welcomed topics.  Currently looking for someone to work with our brand guidelines and help with fliers and invites                     

•    ADOPTION SUPPORT TEAM:

•    Want to be an integral part of matchmaking a loving dog with their forever home.  We offer a training program via our Adoptions Director to facilitate meet and greets and adoptions!  You will be responsible for handling appropriate paperwork, happy pictures and updates to the Wags and Walks team. 

 

•    QUALIFICATIONS

•    Must have a current and valid California Driver’s License and be insurable with the W&W Insurance policy for driving a company vehicle.

•    Must have and maintain a good driving record. Should be familiar with the local community streets and areas and must be capable of reading a map.

•    Must be a High School graduate or equivalent

•    Must be of good moral character and must have an even disposition and be able to deal effectively and politely with people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of difficult situations. This person must have definite abilities to evaluate problems accurately and display good, sound judgment when working without supervision and under emotional stress. These are extremely important and critical qualifications

•    A high level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills are required
