Foster Friday – Kristel Laiblin

Foster Friday – Kristel Laiblin

June 3rd, 2016

Today we want to introduce you to one of our amazing fosters, who is an integral part of the Wags and Walks family. Kristel has fostered a total of eleven dogs thus far and plans to foster even more. Without her, we could not save the amount of dogs that we do and we are so excited to share her story with you! Take it away, Kristel… “I’m a Southern California native who works in the entertainment industry. I’ve always wanted to get a dog but my schedule wouldn’t be good for one, yet. I started fostering for Wags and Walks because a friend of mine started fostering dogs and suggested I try it out. I started just having one overnight which I did a few times. When the need was there, I began keeping them longer.  My favorite foster to date would have to be Donuts. He was the first one I had for a long period of time. As I type this, my current foster, Nyqvist, is looking me in the eye… So I would have to say him too! The biggest challenge of fostering is adapting to each one and their different needs. You never know what to expect so having the time to discover those needs and adapt is key. I am lucky that I have the time to give for the most part. On how fostering has affected her… I’ve always been a dog lover but could be a bit nervous around dogs that didn’t seem welcoming. Now, I know they are just scared and need some love and they change their energy right away! Having them around has opened my heart in ways I didn’t know possible! On giving advice to potential fosters… Make sure you have the time and tell Megan (our wonderful foster coordinator) specifically what you can handle. I don’t know how she always seems to give me the perfect foster dog but I suspect everyone feels that way!” Thank you so much! Team Wags is eternally grateful for all that you do for everyone around you. If you're interested in becoming a foster, fill out an application here.  Make sure to share this post with your friends on social media, so that we can spread the word about how life-changing fostering is! It not only saves dogs lives, but it will change yours too. Please follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat (username: wagsandwalks).  Also, don’t forget to sign up for our e-mail newsletter, and check our website for available dogs. Who doesn’t love cute animal updates? XO, Ashley Team Wags
