Ashley’s path to Wags and Walks
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley Williams and I’m part of the Wags and Walks social media team. I’m so excited to share my story with you all and most importantly, my love for Wags!
I’ve always been heavily involved with various philanthropic groups and am a HUGE animal lover (we’re talking anything from a slippery snake to a carrot loving zebra). However, dogs have always held the most special place in my heart. When my family dog Misty passed away after giving us the most loving 21 years, I didn’t think another dog could ever replace that void in my heart. That was until I met my best friend Arianne’s new rescue dog – Autumn!

Autumn is a Pit Bull / Labrador mix and as you can see from the above picture, she is the most loving creature you could ever meet. Before meeting Autumn, I had a very false perception of pits. I believed that they were aggressive and dangerous, that they shouldn’t be trusted, and to fear them. Autumn completely changed my perception and helped me to realize just how wrong I was. A dog’s personality is not pre-determined – it is up to the owner to ensure a well-trained and loving pooch. Autumn inspired me to start volunteering with Wags and Walks to help dogs just like her.

It didn’t take me long to realize just how incredible an organization Wags and Walks is. The entire team works selflessly to rescue a record amount of dogs and place them into loving forever homes. What I like most about Wags is that they do not bully-breed or discriminate in any way. Wags specialty is finding family friendly dogs that have been over looked due to lack of space and rescuing them from high-kill shelters, no matter their breed or size.
I am constanly in awe of the intelligent and kind hearted ladies of Team Wags, who work day and night to rescue these incredible dogs. I am inspired by this organization daily and I am so incredibly honored that they let me be a part of their team. I hope that you too will consider volunteering and or fostering. I promise you this – you will not regret it!
