Thank You to Our Volunteers on International Volunteer Day!

Today is International Volunteer Day (IVD), a day that is celebrated to recognize the positive solidarity of volunteers around the world who dedicate themselves to supporting various causes. At Wags and Walks, we could not do our mission without the daily support of our devoted volunteers.

Volunteers are integral to what we do, helping with lifesaving tasks like fostering dogs that we pull from shelters, transporting puppies to the vet to get checked for parvo and other common illnesses, and helping out at adoption events. With our  brand new Adoption Center, which will house 28 kennels, there are even more ways to get involved. We look to volunteers to walk, feed, play with, and love our pups while they wait to go home with a foster or to their forever home. Volunteers can also help with office work or social media/blogging - often from the comfort of their own home! If you’re interested in learning more about how to get involved, check out our volunteer page.

In honor of International Volunteer Day, we are excited to spotlight three of our dedicated volunteers. Without them, we could not do what we do for the deserving dogs in LA - and beyond!

Laurie Sharpe has been a consistent and outstanding Wags and Walks volunteer, foster, and transporter. She comes to Wags Club (at the Adoption Center) at least a few times a week, and never has a problem staying late when we need extra help cleaning, intake, or walking the pups.

Anaele Moore has been one of  our most dedicated and consistent fosters over the last year. She takes in all kinds of pups and takes the time to let them decompress, get to know their personalities, and match them with their forever family.

Yasamin Moussavi is a new volunteer, but that hasn’t stopped her desire to give back by volunteering for events, admin work, Wags Club, and transporting (8 in the last month alone!). We are so excited to have her as a new addition, and she is exactly the type of person we need to keep growing and saving more dogs.

A huge thank you to Laurie, Anaele, Yasamin, and ALL of our selfless Wags and Walks volunteers for everything they do for our organization. We couldn’t do it without you!
