Wagging Tails Wednesday: Floyd (fka Zeek)

When you know, you know and that’s exactly what happened with our latest Wagging Tails Wednesday feature. We love hearing that our alumni connected immediately with their future dog and that everything fell into place quickly after that. If you want a feel good story, keep reading to learn more about Ashley and Floyd and their beautiful relationship.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your dog (when did you adopt him/her, is this your first dog, etc.).

I am a Performance Specialist at Better Bodies Fitness  in Long Beach, Ca  and a former UCLA Bruin... Go Bruins! My love for animals started when I was in Pre school and there hasn’t been a time in my life I didn’t own a dog. I adopted Floyd (fka Zeek) a week before my birthday. He isn’t the first dog I’ve owned but he is the first dog I have adopted from a rescue.

How did you find out about Wags & Walks?

I actually came across Wags & Walks from Instagram. I knew I wanted to rescue and I began following rescues in the So cal area.

How did you know your dog was “the one”?

You know that saying “love at first sight”? That’s exactly what it was! I saw him on the Wags & Walks Instagram, saw his gorgeous face, read his bio and I just knew he was the guy for me!

Have there been any challenges or setbacks you’ve had to overcome? What was your biggest surprise?

The biggest challenge has been teaching Floyd not to pull and teaching him boundaries when guest come over BUT he is a work in progress. He is a total lover which I don’t mind but not everyone adores my dog the way I do. The biggest surprise so far is he has a thing for squirrels, they drive him nuts!

What is your favorite thing about your dog? Does he/she have any funny quirks?

I love how affectionate my dog is. He loves to be close to his mom at all times. One of the quirkiest things he does is watch tv and tilts his head like he is very intrigued.

What is your favorite thing about being a doggy parent?

My favorite thing about being a doggy parent is having a companion that loves you unconditionally. In your pets eyes, you are golden everyday, even when you don’t feel that you are.

How has your dog changed you?

My dog has made my heart even bigger! He filled a void that no person could ever fill after saying goodbye to my last dog so suddenly.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about you and your pup?

The sky is the limit for us! We plan to enjoy each other’s company and explore new places as often as we can! Stay tuned....
