June 8th is Best Friends Day, and it goes without saying that dogs make the best of friends. Through the good and the bad, you can count on your dog to be there, celebrating with you, comforting you, and always making you smile.
It’s easy to see that our furry companions are more than just pets. The bond we have with our dogs can sometimes even be stronger than what we have with friends or family members, and the way we care for and love our dogs is definitely on par to how we care and feel towards our own family. That’s why we proudly label ourselves as “dog moms” (and dads!) - because it’s true!
But there’s a lot of history behind why dogs and humans make such great pals. Dogs have been with the human race for thousands of years and have always been a loving source of companionship. Growing together for years have conditioned dogs to become the ideal friend to humankind.
If you’re anything like us, you come home after work and immediately start talking to your dog as if they can understand english. But if you think that your words are lost on floppy ears, you may be wrong! Studies have shown that dogs can understand human emotions based on facial expressions, and to a certain extent, even human intentions.
A dog’s ability to interact with us so well only strengthens our love and affection for them. Dog owners have a high sense of well-being and score happier on tests than people with cats or no pets at all. Dogs offer security, comfort, and unconditional love. They make us feel happy and needed. Who doesn’t love coming home to a wagging tail and sloppy kisses?
We love helping families find an additional furry member because we understand that we aren’t just helping you find a pet; we are helping you grow your family and find a long-term companion.
If you are looking for your best friend, then you are in the right place. We get pooches of all breeds and sizes. If you are looking for a certain type of dog, talk to our Adoptions Team and they can help you find the best match. Not sure what kind of dog you want? No sweat! Happy Best Friends Day!
