On today’s Wagging Tail Wednesday, we are excited to share the story of Michael, Amber and their fur baby, Durzo.
Durzo hit the jackpot when he was adopted by Michael and Amber. Not only was his first home in the beautiful outdoors at Pine Mountain Club, but soon after being adopted, Durzo and his pawrents moved to the east coast where he received his first fenced in yard - something we don’t see much of in LA!
While Durzo was Michael and Amber’s first fur baby, they knew they had to have him as soon as they saw his face. “His one blue eye just looked into our soul and said ‘adopt me!’,” they said.
Since that day, Durzo has gone everywhere with his pawrents. They even joke that they need to get their hipster puppy a beanie, as he’s been to more national parks and breweries than most of their friends!
However, as parenthood goes, it’s not all fun and games. In the beginning, Durzo developed quite a bit of separation anxiety. Michael and Amber remember coming home one evening after going out for dinner to find him out of his crate because he actually bent the metal bars enough to escape! But after working on positive crate training and getting in the habit of running all of his energy out of him before leaving for any length of time, Durzo has improved drastically. Plus, his new little sister, Reese (a pitbull mix), has really helped him out too.
Despite the challenges of raising a dog, Michael and Amber have no regrets.
“He brings such joy and comic relief into our lives. Even when we’ve had the roughest day, he’s there to remind us that we are still loved unconditionally by someone,” they said.
