Meet Hippo, a 3-year-old, 121-pound mixed-breed gentle giant with an even bigger heart to match his size. This very big, very sweet boy is as mushy as they come and absolutely adores attention. Hippo happily sits for pets and soaks up every bit of love you’re willing to give, leaning in with his signature endearing charm. Hippo is a social, friendly guy who enjoys being around people and other dogs. He’s done great with canine companions and is respectful when other dogs set boundaries or ask for space. While his size can be impressive, his demeanor is tender and kind, and he approaches new things with a bit of timid curiosity that only adds to his lovable personality. This big boy is highly food-motivated and takes treats very gently, making him a joy to work with and a great candidate for continued training. Hippo loves toys and enjoys playtime just as much as cuddle time. He is currently working with one of our training partners on leash manners and has been making great progress, though he will need an adopter committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence. Hippo would thrive in a home ready to embrace a giant lap dog who offers endless love, loyalty, and slobbery smiles!
