Meet & Greet
How it Works
An Adoptions Counselor has reached out via text to connect you for the meet and greet! The applicant has gone through an interview and is approved to meet the pup.
Meet & Greets can occur at the fosters’ home, adopters’ home, neutral ground, or another place where you think the dog will be comfortable. We defer to fosters on their preferred option and whether they’re willing to drive to meet up or if they prefer potential adopter(s) to come to the fosters’ home.
If the meet and greet include a dog intro, please do this on neutral territory on a leash! We recommend a side-by-side walk at first to see how the dogs do together. Ask the adoptions counselor if you have any questions.
At the Meeting
If the Adopter wants to move forward, please check in with the adoption counselor via text before the dog goes home! The contract and payment will need to be completed online before the dog goes home.
If the Adopter would like to move forward but is not ready to take the dog home, they will need to prepare to pick them up within 1-2 days. Wags & Walks is not able to hold dogs. Please get in touch with your adoption counselor for questions or extenuating circumstances.
Any questions related to the adoption approval should be directed to the Adoptions Counselor who connects you.
Please keep supplies with the foster home unless approved by staff to transfer them to the Adopter!
Dogs can go home with 2-3 days worth of food + the teal slip lead that will be located in the foster supply bag.
