FAQs
Spay/Neuter Surgery
-
Spay/neuter refers to the surgical procedure to render a dog unable to produce litters of puppies. Female animals are "spayed," and male animals are "neutered."
* Reduces animal homelessness, shelter intake, and euthanasia rates
* Stops reproduction and heat cycles
* Decreases risk of certain types of cancer
* May prevent certain behavioral problems: roaming, fighting, "marking" territory, and aggression
* Decreases risk of reproductive infection
-
Dogs can be spayed/neutered beginning when they are 10 weeks old or when they weigh 5 pounds. If females are spayed before their first heat (which usually occurs when they are five to six months old), breast cancer can be almost completely prevented. Younger pets also recover more quickly from the surgery and experience less pain following surgery than older pets.
-
No, we do offer vaccines if you wish to have them administered and it is an additional cost. WE DO REQUIRE RABIES, and if you do not show proof of rabies vaccination we will automatically administer, and you will be charged $15 dollars.
-
When you arrive for drop-off, you will text our Clinic Phone line a description of your vehicle and name of pet, and our staff will bring out a check-in form. You will receive a text message when we are ready to have you bring your dog inside. If your dog seems to be nervous or anxious, please let us know in your initial text.
When arriving for pick-up, you can come inside the Adoption Center and check-in at the front desk to ensure you've completed payment. A staff member will then bring your dog to the lobby and review post-op care instructions. There may be a 5-10 minute wait upon arrival.
