Here are just a few ways you can help Wags & Walks

FOSTERING:

Depending on what kind of dog you are comfortable with (large dog, small dog, puppy, senior), we will fit you with the perfect dog for you to foster! During the time that you are fostering, all we ask is that you care for your foster dog and provide him/her with love and comfort during their transition from shelter to home. The benefits of fostering are endless, but according to our current fosters the best part is knowing that you played a crucial role in saving a life!

VOLUNTEERING:

Wags Club/ Dog Walking:

If you’re interested in spending time with some of our adorable adoptable dogs, Wags Club is the place for you! Located in West LA, we now have our very own adoption center where many of our adoptable dogs stay while waiting for their forever homes!

We rely heavily on our amazing volunteers to sign up for shifts to help us care for our dogs! Whether you can come once a month, once a week, or all the time, we sincerely appreciate those who take time out of their busy lives to walk, feed, and care for all of our dogs.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend an orientation, during which you will learn more about our organization and ALL the volunteering opportunities that we offer. These include: animal care, fundraising, transporting, fostering, special events, marketing & social media, web development, photography, and more!

Adoption Events & Special Events:

Wags and Walks holds and participates in all sorts of events, including adoption events, puppy yoga, happy hours, sip and paints, puppy parties and more. In order to successfully execute events, we need a dedicated team of volunteers to help transport and give love to our available dogs, inform potential adopters and spread the word about our organization in the community. Participating in events is a great way to get together, have fun and celebrate our successes all while spreading the word about rescue and Wags and Walks!

Transporting Dogs:

Wags and Walks visits high kill shelters in and around Los Angeles multiple times a week. Often times we need help transferring multiple dogs from the shelters, to/from our vets, fosters, etc. This typically takes place on week days - so if you have a flexible schedule, this would be a HUGE help!

Spreading the Word:

Whether it be sharing Facebook posts, following us on Instagram, or re-tweeting us, social media has been a key to our success.

We also plan events in which we seek donations and sponsors. If you are interested in helping us reach out to corporations, local businesses, and anywhere and everywhere in between, we appreciate all of the help that we can get!

If you have any other talents that you think would be helpful to Wags and Walks, PLEASE let us know!

FAQ

Can my child volunteer?

- Yes, we do allow children to volunteer. All minors must attend an orientation with a parent. Children over 15 years old can volunteer independently. Those under 15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at a 1:1 ratio at all times.

What do I wear when I’m volunteering?

- We require our volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes and a Wags and Walks t-shirt.

If I don't have experience can I still volunteer in Wags Club?

- Yes, of course! All volunteers go through a shadow shift, during which they are paired with a more experienced volunteer who can show them the ropes. Volunteers are welcome to shadow others until they are comfortable on their own. Additionally, we offer training workshops monthly for volunteers who are interested in building their handling skills.
