Meet Bucky! This handsome 8.5-year-old, 14lb Dachshund is a sweet senior boy who is ready to discover what it means to be part of a loving family. Bucky came to us from a large-scale backyard breeding case, so he can be a little nervous when he first meets new people or finds himself in unfamiliar surroundings. He’ll need a little patience and plenty of gentle encouragement as he learns that he’s safe, but once he starts to feel comfortable, his sweet personality really comes out. During his time with us, Bucky has shown just how much he enjoys affection once he feels secure. In the yard, he quickly comes out of his shell and happily soaks up attention, rolling onto his back for belly rubs and enjoying all the pets he can get. He also seems more confident with another dog nearby, suggesting that having a calm canine companion may help him feel more comfortable as he adjusts! Bucky is still learning how to navigate life on leash and can be unsure about where to go, so he’ll need an adopter who is willing to take things at his pace and help him build confidence.
