Meet Cheddar! This 3-year-old, 35lb Beagle mix is a sweet, gentle boy who is slowly discovering what the good life can look like. Cheddar came to ua from a backyard breeding case involving more than 70 Beagles, where the dogs had been living outdoors with limited socialization and care. Understandably, he’s still learning to trust people and navigate all the new experiences around him, but he’s making progress every day! Cheddar is a mostly mellow and laid-back guy who is still learning to come out of his shell. He spends much of his day relaxing on the couch or in his crate, which has quickly become his safe space. As he continues to acclimate, he’s gradually starting to show more of his personality and become more comfortable in his foster home. Cheddar is doing well on leash and seems to especially enjoy his walks, although his Beagle instincts definitely kick in when he spots a squirrel! He’s also becoming more comfortable with his house routine and is making great progress with his potty training. Cheddar is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give him the time and space he needs to decompress and build confidence at his own pace. He may not be the dog who immediately runs up to greet you, but watching him slowly discover his personality and learn to trust will make every little milestone that much more special!
