Cheerio
Meet Cheerio! This 6-year-old, 14lb Chihuahua mix is a sweet, affectionate little guy who has truly blossomed! Once Cheerio feels comfortable, he becomes a true velcro dog. He forms incredibly strong bonds with his people and loves being involved in everyday life, whether that's following you around the house, curling up beside you on the couch, or happily soaking up attention. While he may be a little reserved when meeting new people, he settles in beautifully once trust is established and becomes an incredibly devoted companion. Cheerio has a wonderful medium energy level and enjoys a balance of playtime and relaxation. He loves treats, toys, and a good game of tug, and his food motivation makes him a fun dog to train. He also enjoys going for walks and is always interested in seeing other dogs. Cheerio is fully potty trained and has settled nicely into home life. He sleeps in his crate some nights and does well with short periods of crate time during the day, though he's also perfectly content relaxing loose in the home for brief outings. Like many dogs who came from difficult backgrounds, Cheerio is still learning that he never has to worry about losing the things he values. He's shown some resource guarding behaviors with high-value items and would benefit from adopters who are committed to continuing positive, reward-based training and thoughtful management. At his core, Cheerio is a loving, resilient little dog who has so much affection to give!
