Meet Flint! This handsome 5-year-old, 89lb Rhodesian Ridgeback mix boy is a sweet, mellow guy who is ready to find a comfortable place to call home. Flint is a lower-energy pup who is happiest taking things at his own pace and enjoying the company of his people. Flint does well being leashed up and getting in and out of his room, and he’s actually a very easy walking companion. He doesn’t pull on leash, although he can be a little stubborn when he decides he’s ready to head back inside! Flint came to us from a cruelty case and when he arrived in our care, it was obvious he was in a lot of pain. We learned that Flint had survived being hit by a buckshot, leaving hundreds of pellets embedded in his body. It's suspected he has DLSS (Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis), which is a condition where the lower end of the spine becomes narrowed, potentially putting pressure on the nerves in that area.
Flint will benefit from a home where he can take things slowly, be comfortable, and enjoy gentle activity. He will need an adopter who is willing to continue working with him patiently and help him build positive associations with his space. Most of all, Flint is simply a sweet old soul who doesn’t ask for much. He’d love a calm home where he can relax, spend time with his people, and enjoy the simple things in life.
