Meet Gus! This 4-year-old, 63lb mixed-breed boy is a big goofy softy who is finally feeling comfortable enough to let his silly side shine! After being rescued from a neglect case, Gus has been settling into foster care and discovering just how good life can be. Gus is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented, and his foster has loved watching his personality emerge as he feels safer. He can still be nervous in new places and on car rides, but he seems to be getting braver every day! At home, he’s much more comfortable and has become increasingly playful, occasionally breaking out into a goofy burst of zoomies before settling right back down on the couch for some serious snuggles. He’s a bit of a clumsy guy, which only adds to his charm! Gus is potty trained, sleeps through the night, and feels so comfortable in his crate that he’ll happily go in on his own. He does well on leash overall, although he can get excited when passing other dogs and may pull when he wants to say hello. He’s a strong boy and can need some extra guidance when he gets excited, but he responds well to gentle correction and is continuing to learn how to keep his focus on his person! Gus has been introduced to other dogs and has shown playful, friendly interest. He’s a medium-energy guy who is happiest when he can spend time with his people, get some playtime in, and then curl up beside them. Gus is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, fully covered by the 15/10 Foundation, and is expected to make a full recovery! He’s come such a long way already, and we can’t wait to see him continue to blossom with a family who will give him the love, patience, and guidance he deserves.
