Duke
Meet Duke! This cutie is a 1-year-old, 40lb poodle-mix and is the sweetest boy. He loves gentle pets, tasty treats, and spending his days stretched out near his favorite people (preferably over the closest A/C vent). While he'll still get the occasional burst of playful puppy energy, Duke is mostly content soaking up the quiet moments and keeping you company.
Duke is partially blind, but he doesn't let that keep him from enjoying life. He loves sniffing every interesting scent on walks, finding his favorite toys, and hopping into the car for an adventure. Because he relies on routine to navigate his surroundings, he thrives in a consistent home where he can learn the layout and settle into a predictable rhythm. Once he knows his environment, he moves through it with confidence. He also has a few adorable quirks – he'll do a couple excited spins before picking the perfect potty spot, and he prefers his water bowl filled to the brim so he can easily find a drink.
He's wonderful with other dogs and enjoys both one-on-one friendships and larger groups, though his ideal lifestyle is a calm home rather than a busy daycare or kennel environment. Duke also loves car rides and would love to join you on road trips!
Duke does have a neurological condition that is currently being monitored with steroids (prednisone). He’s responding very well to treatment and his condition doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. His future adopters will also have support from Wags for his initial rechecks.
All Duke is looking for is someone who will give him a consistency, commitment, and a lot of love. In return, you'll get one of the sweetest, most loyal companions around.
