Meet Jeff! This 8.5-year-old, 12lb Chihuahua mix may be tiny, but he comes with a huge personality and an absolutely unforgettable underbite. After being rescued from a severe hoarding situation, Jeff is discovering what it means to live in a safe, loving home, and he's making steady progress every day. Jeff is playful, funny, and full of charm. He enjoys toys, little zoomies around the house, and being part of the action, especially when another confident dog is around. Having a canine companion gives Jeff reassurance, and he'd thrive in a home with a friendly dog who can continue showing him the ropes! This resilient little guy has been working hard on everyday life skills, from navigating stairs and household noises to gaining confidence on walks. He's become much more comfortable exploring the world and has done wonderfully on neighborhood strolls when given patience and encouragement. Jeff also settles nicely in his crate, happily goes in for a treat, and sleeps through the night. He's continuing to make progress with potty training and does best with a consistent routine and regular outdoor breaks. Because of his past, Jeff is still learning to trust people, particularly men. For that reason, we believe Jeff would do best in a home with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time, ideally with a female adopter or a household where any male family members are committed to letting Jeff move at his own pace. With patience, understanding, and a loving home, Jeff will continue blossoming into the happy, confident little dog he's meant to be.
