Meet Rye! This 6-year-old, 32lb Beagle mix is a laid-back, gentle guy who is slowly discovering that people can be pretty great. Rye came to Wags from a backyard breeding case involving more than 70 Beagles, and while his past has made him a little cautious in new environments, he's already making wonderful progress. Rye is an easygoing boy who enjoys taking things at his own pace. He's been warming up more to people every day and will happily approach for pets and scratches, often coming back to check in with his favorite humans. He loves spending time outside, exploring at his own pace, and especially soaking up the sunshine. He's also done wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys being part of a group, but he's equally comfortable relaxing on his own. He relaxes beautifully in his kennel and doesn't seem anxious, making him an especially easygoing companion. He's also been very tolerant during his baths and has enjoyed the attention and gentle scratches that come with them. Rye is still building confidence with some aspects of his new world, so he'll benefit from a patient family willing to give him time to settle in and continue coming out of his shell. If you're looking for a quiet, sweet companion who will happily spend his days by your side, or stretched out in a sunny spot, Rye may be your perfect match.
