This 5-month-old, 19-lb is a lovable little sweetheart. Frito arrived at the shelter scared and in pain after being hit by a car. To give him the best quality of life, the decision was made to amputate his leg. When we met Frito, we knew we couldn’t leave him behind. Dogs with physical disabilities or special needs are often overlooked in shelters and have a harder time finding homes. But they are no less deserving than any other dog. Now safely in our care, Frito is a happy tripod who is loving life in his foster home. Frito is a mellow, laid-back little guy who just wants to snuggle with his people. He loves making new friends and greets everyone with a kiss and a wagging tail. He can be a little shy in new environments, but warms up with encouragement and reassurance. This resilient pup is recovering beautifully from his recent surgery and learning to get around on three legs. He is practicing his puppy basics and will thrive with understanding, affectionate adopters who will love him for who he is and in a forever home with limited stairs.
