This 8-year-old, 76-lb gal is an absolute love bug. When we met Matcha at a crowded LA County shelter, she was two days past her deadline on the euthanasia list. This sweet girl had been picked up as a stray before being brought to the shelter. Sadly, she went weeks without any adoption interest. In addition to being an older girl, Matcha was severely overweight and covered in calluses and yeasty skin. Thankfully, we were able to get Matcha out of the shelter before it was too late. We took her in and immediately had her examined by our medical team. We learned that her thyroid isn’t functioning properly, resulting in her weight gain and yeasty skin. The calluses on her elbows were caused by lying on hard surfaces for far too long. We’ve gotten Matcha started on a medication to help her shed the extra pounds, and she is expected to make a full recovery. This sweet girl is an absolute gem and always seems to be in good spirits, no matter the circumstances. She is loving, sweet, and always happy to meet new people. She is also a big fluffy loaf who wants nothing more than belly rubs while lounging around. Matcha knows several commands already, including ‘sit’ and ‘stop’. She is fully potty-trained and walks well on a leash at a leisurely pace. This sweet senior girl would love a calm home with adopters who will love her laid-back, easygoing personality.
