This 10-year-old, 21-lb mixed breed is a gentle, mellow senior who just wants to be comfortable and loved. Loafer was found as a stray and brought to the shelter, where he kept to himself and lived up to his name, quietly sitting or standing like a little loaf. Once in our care, we discovered he was dealing with discomfort due to tracheal collapse and a possible infection, both of which are now being treated by our medical team. As he's started to feel better, Loafer has blossomed in his foster home, truly starting to decompress into the sweet, sassy old man he is. He has a low energy level and prefers a calm, relaxed environment where he can coexist peacefully with his people. He loves his daily walks and turns out to be a wonderful on leash, happily strolling alongside his foster at his own senior pace. He would love a home with limited stairs or adopters who can carry him up and down large flights of stairs. Loafer is the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much, just a safe, cozy place to rest and someone to show him kindness. He is close to mastering potty training and has made great strides in his foster home with a consistent routine.
